In Blooms Mother Nature's Way Tour
Introduction- Helen’s Daughters (HD) is a St. Lucian non-profit with a mission to amplify the role of agriculture and women (in the industry) in Saint Lucia and the region. As an organization, we have trained thousands of women since 2016 and helped hundreds of farmers transition away from pesticides, adopt more efficient business strategies and achieve more sustainable incomes.
As part of our strategy to support women in agriculture, we have created an agri-tourism experience entitled, “In the Eyes of a FarmHER”, to shine a light on the experiences of FarmHERs. The first of which will be Helena Thomas, a FarmHer located at Fond Lastisab in Chassin, Babonneau. Helena is a seasoned farmer from the community of Babonneau. Nurtured into this career from a teenager she capitalized on the opportunity to continue her parents’ legacy of farming. Farming to her is more than just her profession, it has become part of her everyday life and she has made into a family affair, with her children and grandchildren for over 40 years.
