Richard N.C. Peterkin

Richard recently retired from Grant Thornton Windward Islands where he was the partner in charge of Tax and Transaction Services. Over the last 43 years he has been a Partner in Saint Lucia and the Eastern Caribbean with KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Grant Thornton. He provided assurance, business advisory, recovery, and corporate services to a wide mix of public and private clients in Saint Lucia and the wider Caribbean.
He attained degrees in Economics and Commerce from the University of the West Indies and the University of Windsor respectively. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Canada in 1976 and is currently a Member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
He grew up in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, England and Canada and returned to the Caribbean in 1977 to live and work in Saint Lucia, where he currently resides. He is married to Dagmar, and they have three adult children, all professionals, in the fields of Finance, Medicine and Engineering.
While retired, Richard remains an active practitioner in Insolvency, Tax and Advisory services. Throughout his career, he has been progressively involved in civic affairs and has chaired several public committees and private boards. He has provided advice on economics, investment, international business, taxation, and corporate services to Private Sector organizations, public and private companies, regional bodies, and international financial institutions.
In sports, Richard was the President of the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee for 20 years, a member of the International Olympic Committee for 9 years and is currently the Treasurer of the Pan American Sports Organization. He was awarded a CBE in 2017 for his contribution to Sports and the Private Sector and was the Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Spain in Saint Lucia from 1993 to 2023.
