Yara Ammar is the Social Media and Advocacy Officer at Helen's Daughters.
Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, USA, Yara began her journey with Helen’s Daughters as a communications intern in the Summer of 2024. During this time she co-wrote and produced HD’s first documentary Roots of Resilience: Stories of Caribbean Women in Agriculture.
Having previously worked with the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Smithsonian Associates, she has developed an extensive understanding of the importance of education and community outreach. She is passionate that the intersection of media and advocacy is the key to cross-cultural understanding and collaboration. Using her background in film and media, she aims to continue uplifting our FarmHers’ voices and expand their platform, allowing them to cultivate opportunity and write their own narratives.
